Week 5 - House Keeping

Keeping a house is not an easy task as many people may think. The day I moved in my first house was a challenge. My old house was definitely considered a fixer-upper, but in reality, it was the only thing I could afford. The day I was born, I was taught how to repair minor and eventually major repairs. From installing a new window to plumbing repairs, I saved thousands of dollars with hands-on practical skills.

My passion is shopping at Home Depot. I am not an official licensed-building contractor, however, I can amazingly create similar craftsmanship projects. Spending hours at a time, walking up and down every aisle, inhaling the freshly cut pine, cedar mixed with the aroma of paint brings my body to pleasure. From viewing the appliance section to the new lighting, I would take part in learning, even if its my weakness. As you can see, I am no amateur. For the majority part, I feel that I have more qualities and experience than some of the sale representative on the floor. Don’t get me wrong, some representatives have a strong knowledge and skills when asked a specific question, however, others would only read the name of product, if that. Tools are very expensive and I have to choose what’s important. Sometimes I would actually rent a tool before adding it to my personal collection.

Home Depot would also offer various zero percent programs to enti customers to increase sales. I would look at every aspect before purchasing products to obtain the best deal. In my opinion, I would not use their services since I think is over priced, however, I still think it is a good location to purchasing items for home improvement.

Week 4 - My Halibut, My Stripes

Fishing is not a sport, but it is an addiction. The day I caught this halibut, I felt I earned my stripes as an angler. The day, June 7th , 2005 was a big day for me. It took me years to catch this type of fish, but finally I saw it at the end of my hook. This unusual fish have eyes on the same side of its body and usually swims at the bottom of the sea, unlike most other types of fishes. When a halibut is born, it is called a larva and approximately 1 inch long. As a larva, the halibut eyes are normal just like any other fish. However, after 6 months after being born, the halibut undergo an eye transformation which one eye will shift on the same side as the other one. Halibut can live to the age of 40 and can grow to the length of 90 inches and the weight of 400 lbs. The photo I have displayed is probably a few years old. Anyway, the big catch was later separated into four nice sized filets and shared amongst my family members. That particular day was the breaking ice for halibut fishing.

Week 3 - Word List 1

Writing a blog is actually my first time. I took advice from my colleague before attempting this new assignment and made sure it was done accurately. At the very beginning, I got acceptance from the web server of my user name and password I created correctly. Logging on to my personal blogger on a daily basis, I got accustom to acquire new ideas from viewing other sites. With any learner, I accidentally deleted my initial page. I admitted it was my mistake since I did not hit save adequately. Every time viewing a new page, I came across new advertising at the top of the page. The accompaniment ads took possession of the entire page. To accommodate the advertising frusturations, the settings were changed to block any surprises. The absence of the ads was very advantageous to my eyes. The way it looks, I am glad I was able to post another blog.

Week 2 - Do not start off with the letter "I"

The laws of learning English is only a miniature segment in my life. Sometimes, I feel this law is somewhat like fine art with no barriers. You have to just jump in and start stroking different colors knowing you have rules that you must follow. Red and green is not black as an example of an elementary rule learned at an early stage in my life. It is quite clear our instructor is guiding me away from starting a sentence with the single letter “I”. It was certainly tuff as I thought of new ways not to begin my sentences with that unspeakable letter. Through techniques and improvement, the use of the letter started to fade out my scene and new ideas began to grow, as a sunflower bloom on a nice sunny day. I will continue to proceed through the law of learning English and the exercise of changing my ways.
